When fighting in Cain RPG you must follow these Combat Rules.
Hit Points:
In RPG we use a point system called Hit Points. Hit points are the
amount of hits you character can take in battle before dieing.
Royal Family 6 Hit points *
High Ranks 5 Hit points *
Ranked Members 4 Hit points *
Clan Members and all registered characters will be 3 Hit points *
All others 2 Hit points
All who stand with the Queen of Cain as heads of Ranks add 1 hit point to what is stated above (Ex. Master Knight of Cain, Head Sorcerer etc. would be 6 hit points, a knight or priestess would be 5 hit points.
* : Recognized Clans of cain ONLY
In combat when we get hurt we call it a hit. After so many hits your character is considered dead.
When your character dies you must leave the game and return with a new character and screenname, unless you are ressurected, or the fight is nulled for whatever reason. (See exceptions rules)
Fighting:
There are two types of fights in Cain RPG, sparring, and death-matches.
Sparring is similar to training, at the end of the spar, there is a
winner and a loser, but no one dies. In a death-match, the winner lives,
and the loser is dead.
For a death-match to be official, there must be two other characters
present to watch the fight.
For a kill to be official, you must get 2 (two) confirms on the kill and you must post the time, date, and roomname of where the death took place, within 24 hours. You do not have to list the names of those who confirmed.
How to fight:
First you must name or look at the character you are going to fight so
that everyone in the room knows who you are fighting. You must name
whatever weapons or magic, if any, you are going to be using in the
fight.
When fighting you have to do an action move followed by a reaction line
without your opponent dodging. If you make a typo in either your attack,
or reaction, the attack will be considered a miss and no hit points will
be taken away.
Example:
you type: /me slashes at dummies arm
you type: /me watches dummies arm fall off
This would be considered a hit and 1 hit point is taken away from your
opponents life.
How to defend yourself:
When fighting you can evade the attack of your opponent. In between the
attack and the reaction line you can dodge the attack. But the dodge must make sense though.
For example: if your opponent is
attacking your legs, obviously jumping is good. and ducking is bad.
Take into account the weapon used against you: a sword swinging for your arm you can step back from, an arrow flying for your head you can't, etc…
When fighting if your opponent defends himself before you get the
reaction move typed and entered, your attack is considered a miss and no
hit points are taken away.
For example:
you typed: /me slashes at dummies arm
your opponent typed: /me moves out of the way
you typed: /me watches him bleed
This would be considered a missed attack, and no hit points are taken
away.
Magic Used In Combat:
There are characters in Cain RPG that have magical abilities. We have
developed a system that allows all characters to fight on an even level.
1. There are no rafters outside of the cainpub and Dark Colliseum. Only in these rooms may rafters be used in combat.
2. Characters cannot vanish, dissappear, or make themselves impossible
to harm in anyway in a challenged battle, unless the fighters agree
otherwise.
3. No action may be used in battle that will prevent another character
from attacking or defending; No freezing, turning to stone, turning to sand, ect.
4. Magic allowed in battle creates a hit, followed by a 3 word reaction
line. The reaction must show what the magic does, and must make sense.
Example:
/me Throws a fireball at dummy
/me Sees them on fire
or
/me sees them burn ...etc.
5." /ME sees it so " will not be accepted as a reaction line with magic
used in battle. Magic used in battle must shock, burn, knockdown,
etc. (Please look over Spell Book)
6. You must specify your characters ablities and/or weapons before fighting.
Example : "I have 2 daggers and can cast spells".
7. You should learn the fighting rules of cain before getting involved in a battle.
8. If your character does not know magic, then he/she cannot use it.
9. Fighter characters, such as knights, soldiers, guards, warriors,
ect, are not allowed to use magic. They do not have this ability. They may have magic weapons, but cannot use magic, unless their character was a magic user before becoming one of these ranks.
10. Kings and Queens can have many abilities, but they must specify what they are just like everyone else.
11. Magical weapons are allowed in Cain RPG, but they must stay within
the guidelines of the combat rules.
12. Three word attacks, dodges and reactions are required... typos, or anything else will
deemed as a miss and no hit points will be taken away.
/ME is not counted as a word.
13. No spell may be bound, or have its effects made permanent. (See Law 16 of Cain)
14. All combat in Cain (with the exception of Storylines) is to be one on one ONLY!!! Don't jump into someone else's fight. If you do you can die no matter what room you're in! You may state rules pertaining to the situation, however you MUST not interfere physically in such a way as to make it a two on one combat situation!
Exceptions:
If an unknown name enters this land, this person is merely a guest here. Any attacks, or damage performed by this person will be nulled...He/She does have and will be given the right to challange in an accepted fight in the colliseum and if accepted it will then be honored.
When your character is killed in battle, they are dead unless one of two
things happens.
1. Your character is revived ( See resurection rule )
or
2. The fight in which your character died is nulled. A fight may be
nulled for many different reasons; cloning of a characters screenname,
lieing about killing a character, ect.
